My heart is broken for George Floyd's family and everyone who
has been victim to racist attacks simply because of the colour of
their skin. As a privileged white person, I am not going to pretend
I understand what this discrimination could feel like - but
starting now, I am definitely going to do my best to try. And I
have recorded this episode to encourage all of you - no matter your
up bringing - to do the same. As the more I've listened, the more
I've realised racism doesn't just exist in the police force or
justice system - but in our own unconscious biases. But this is
good news, because as soon as we become of what those biases are -
we can change them.
I am far from an expert and apologise in advance if I say anything
that comes across as racist or offensive, it is definitely not my
intention and if you have anything you'd like to share with me to
further my education on this topic of inclusion and equality for
#blacklivesmatter then please email me kf@katefitzsimons.com
